|Oman Triathlon Committee held its first official Olympic distance triathlon on Friday 18 December, with great success. As the sun rose more than 60 participants arrived to take part in the race, including 39 male competitors, 7 ladies and 14 teams. They were supported throughout the triathlon by a fantastic turnout of spectators and supporters and a great mix of musical talents.
The triathlon had a truly international feel, with competitors arriving from Oman, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, UAE, UK, Holland, South Africa and Thailand to name a few! From the top athletes in their field to the first time triathletes, everyone gave it their all to ensure the race was exciting and entertaining.
Congratulations go to the winners of the race, Thaworn Wongkham, Suleiman Al Alawi, Rhoan Abbott in the men’s race; Anne Zijderveld, Mattika Maneekaew and Jennifer Geluk in the women’s race, and The Dutch, Al Azri and Oman teams in the team race.
Many thanks should go to the organising team led by Race Director Ahmed Al Malki, including the super efforts of the marshalls and timekeepers on the day, who ensured a safe and successful race for everyone.
